For those of you attending Brits Best in Radium, Laura and I are going to do a hot pool tour of south east B.C. afterwards.
Our preliminary itinerary is as follows: Sunday morning, leave Radium for a short drive to Fairmont Hot Springs where we will enjoy their hot pool and spend the night.
Monday morning, we will drive to Nelson and spend the night there. Ainsworth Hot Springs is a 45-minute drive from Nelson and we can soak in their pool. The Ainsworth pool has a circular cave that isinteresting. It’s hot, humid, and dark in there. It is lit, but not very well.
Tuesday, we head for Nakusp where we always stay at the Leland Hotel. It’s B.C.’s oldest continuously operating hotel. The hotel is right on the lake and the deck has a beautiful view of the lake. It’s a perfect place for an afternoon snack and adult beverage. The restaurant at the hotel serves good food.
There is a nice hot pool a short drive into the mountains from Nakusp. It’s our favourite hot pool because it usually isn’t crowded and it’s very peaceful there.
About 30 minutes north of Nakusp is Halcyon Hot Springs. This is on the lake and is more of a resort than the Nakusp pool. There’s a nice hot pool and a regular swimming pool as well. Also, there is a nice big patio area around the pool.
Right now, we’re not sure whether to spend one or two nights in Nakusp. Either Wednesday or Thursday morning we will leave for home.
Anyone interested in this tour is more than welcome to join us.
