SMOKY LAKE PUMPKIN FEST Oct. 2nd

Not your average pumpkin

Not your average pumpkin

This year’s Pumpkin fest looks to be as big as in previous years. There are some members who have indictated a desire to  go see the large gourds and so we have added the event at the last minute to see if anyone else wishes to join them.  This is considered an on your own event which means route and times are really up to the individual. Though we have set a meeting place, the Petro Canada Station on Fort Road and 137th Ave, Saturday October 2nd. Meeting at 8:30 and departure shortly after that..  There’s an A&W there as well for those who want to have a bacon and egger before hitting the road.  The event is pretty amazing with the Pumpkin’s coming from across the north. In addition to Pumpkin’s there’s a Farmer’s Market, Food Fair, live music, a Seniors garage sale. Also the Iron Cruisers show and shine and a threshing Bee and finally the Pumpkin Squash Auction with guest Auctioneer Danny Hooper.  The late afternoon sees a Beer Garden and pork roast with a pork supper to follow. Five p.m. wraps up the day with a Giant Pumpkin Drop..  There is a Dance at 8:30.   Also a Shuttle service runs between the events throughout the day. Admission to the arena is 8 bucks for adults, 5 bucks for youth/teen and under 7 years get in free.  A lot to see and do in one day.
