A few ECSCC members attended the Van Dusen ABFM this year. Bob Woodcock drove out in his Lotus 7 along with Art Rutledge who drove Jonathan Smethurst’s MGB. Bob’s nephew went as well in his Datsun 2000 Roadster. This year it was “tops up” motoring with their overnight stay in Merritt. Both Bob and Jonathan entered their cars and Bob won second prize in class in the Lotus Open. Doug Wilson enterd his MG TC and won best in “T” class and second in best new restoration in show. Van Dusen was a raving success this year and broke attendance records.

Saturday, May 29th, 2010High Tea Hunt
Monday, May 24th, 2010Seventeen of us cruised Edmonton and St. Albert streets in ten sports cars searching for hidden treasures and highlights in discrete locations. It was a fun way to spend the day which concluded with afternoon tea at Vintage Petals in Morinville. A wonderful event followed by a tasty lunch.
Jasper Jaunt
Thursday, May 13th, 2010Jasper Jaunt was a fun weekend. Nine of us participated with five vehicles two of which were daily drivers (Jonathan & Deborah and Howard). The roads were excellent encouraging top down motoring for John & Dee in their Tiger, Chris & Michelle in their MGB and Neil & Laura in their TR8. Although a little chilly, the weather overall was sunny with periods of intermittent rain and smatterings of snow. Jasper weather was gorgeous however Rocky received a burst of sleet. Having found out about Jasper Jaunt while surfing the net, Jasper resident Bob Mercer joined us in his 1973 Porsche 914 for the run to Athabasca Falls.
Jasper Jaunt is a go.. snow or no snow
Thursday, May 6th, 2010Jasper Jaunt is a go in spite of our snowy week. For those last minute deciders, it shouldn’t be a problem getting a room at Pine Bungalows by calling 1-780-852-3491. The weather has improved. Feel free, however, to join us with your daily driver if you have concerns about driving your sports car. We are meeting at 9:30 AM Saturday morning (May 8th) at Arby’s on St. Albert Trail (on north side of Yellowhead) for a 10 AM departure.
English Breakfast
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
The winter fast is over, the cars are back. We started off on a cool day with a good turn out for the English Breakfast. We had about thirty attendees from our side and probalby the same number from the St. George’s society. The food went down well and we even got to go for some more bacon and sausages if we wanted. The treat this year for those who tried it was the fried bread, if you don’t know what it is you probably don’t want to know.
A good showing of cars which were on display for about an hour after breakfast. We then headed off with about half of us going up to Hole’s Greenhouse. The weather had turned a bit damp and cool by then so the warmth of the greenhouses was a nice break. And some of us even bought plants.. A good start to the year, thanks Phil and Sandi. Next we have Jasper Jaunt.. still time to book a room and go on the first long run of the year.
