We should call this the Half and Half run. After last years run some of the ladies on the run said that the first half was for them and the second half out at Rods was for the guys. Could be true, this year two changes, Alex is taking on the Econo Run in combination with the Fall Colours run. (listed below) and Rod suggested we bring chairs to sit on. Other than that we’ll meet at the Petro Can on Fort Road and at 8:30 then head up the Manning Freeway to Gibbons. We try and park by the Firehall and at this time that’s where we’re aiming. About three we head off to Rod’s place which is down gravel road off the highway. The Garage Sale is always huge, and the stuff out at Rod’s often changes so it’s a good run. (though the guys bought more at the garage sale than the ladies did.. just so you know)
Saturday September 11th 8 to 5 is a good window.. see you there.

The group out at Rod Thomas's examine a restoration project?

There’s a start up BBQ on the Saturday July 24th and the show on the Sunday. This is also when Saskatoon runs it’s Taste of Saskatoon so there should be some good eats just across the way. We hope to have a loose planning meeting before the trip and depending on who’s going and what cars the route and timeline may change. Still should be a good time, club member Bob Kosinski met up with some of their memebers at the Radium MG Show and says their a good bunch. If you haven’t had a good long run in your sports car you should consider this one.

Baptiste Lake run held at Keith Wilson’s place on the Lake, took place this past weekend. The day started in the rain but by the time we got to St. Albert the sun was out and we were able to drop tops and head off. First stop was Weslock’s Tractor Museum which had a good slection of 50’s and 60’s tractors. The lunch at the Westlock Inn before heading off to Baptiste lake.

The Cottage...

Tours of the lake by boat and pontoon craft, a fine meal of pulled pork and pulled Venison with salads and desert went down well. Thanks everyone for all that input. The fire was ready for when people got back from the evening tour of the lake and jokes, chat and the warmth of the fire wrapped up the evening. Those staying in Athabasca headed off a bit before midnight, it was still light out and those staying behind went into the hot tub till par boiled and pruney. The morning started with a dip in the hot tub and then Lorraine whipped up some pancakes and sausages and we all dug into a fine brunch. Some drifted off to the city later on in the morning and then a few hung in there till afternoon. Partially becuase I was out helping move a shower and a boat lift. Cottage life is so relaxing… Thanks Keith and Lorraine another wonderful time.

We had two gazebos set up and looked quite organized. The lunch provided this year was much improved from the year previous and there were a lot of people coming though who enjoyed seeing our cars and talking with our members. This continues to be a good little run and hopefully the Village will continue to invite us.

Our club had two enjoyable barbecues in June. The first was hosted by Russ at his acreage near Cooking Lake where we were greeted by a druidic theme and a Stonehenge replica. After a tasty meal, eight of us went for airplane rides over Lake Miquelon, provincial park forests and wetlands. The evening ended with fireworks. For the second barbecue, we cruised south to Evan’s Sylvan Lake home and stopped in Rimbey for a brief tour of the Smithson International Truck Museum. Upon arriving at Evan’s, Calgary club members joined us for an afternoon of barbecuing and socializing in a scenic lakeside setting. Our sincere thanks to Russ and Evan and their families for hosting fabulous events.
