June is pretty full

Sunday, May 27th, 2012

We had some good events this past month. Picnic in the Park and History Road saw us joined by two groups from Sasketchewan. Other than the weather at History Road is was a good time. The other events were well attended and great fun. July is more of the same with the Ukrainian Historic Village run starting us off on July 1st.

Plan to attend the Planning Meeting?

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Alec has got some great ideas lined up for the upcoming planning meeting. There is rumour of Pizza as well to bring back an old tradtion. We have some classic runs to bring forth as well as the hope for some new runs to get the interest up this year. Talk of a few long runs this upcoming season with Van Dusen being mentioned as well as Portland All British and Saskatchewan’s Brit by the Bus.
The Local runs were popular last summer and we hope to see a few more of them. If you haven’t been then the Ukrainian Village show is worth taking in and they feed you too. Some past runs won’t be repeated unless we can get new organizers and it doesn’t take much work to do a run in many cases.
One variation is that the Saskatchewan All British Car Club has expressed interest in coming out to Edmonton for the Picnic in the Park put on by the Alberta All British Motoring Society and then History Road. Hope we can step up and be as good a host club as they have been when we go to Saskatoon. As usual things won’t happen without people stepping forward to host an event. There’s lot’s of support available should you decided to take on a run. See you there.

Monthly Meetings get off to a slick start

Thursday, January 26th, 2012

Russ has landed an interesting speaker for February’s meeting. Suncor’s Peter Harteveld, Peter has done a lot of research ensuring that his presentation on Motor Oil is relevant to our classic cars. With the upcoming Quaker State Classic oil and other brands out there it will no doubt be interesting to find out what Mr. Hareveld has found out.  Russ is pulling a lot of strings to get these experts to come speak to us so lets get out and have a good meeting. Join us at the Royal Alberta Museum meeting room (to the left of the main entrance) at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday February 15th.

Speaking of good meetings the planning meeting is scheduled for the March 21st Meeting night. Alec Cherwenuk is already working on a list of things to do and places to go. If you have any ideas or wants in this area please feel free to contact him. He’s listed onsite in the Executive section or in the newsletter.  Be very helpful meeting night if you have as much info on the event that you can. The St. Paddy’s Day BBQ takes place before the meeting but if it turns out to be a go then we should have it in the newsletter and of course here online and via email.  Usually a good event as we touch base with people after a long winter. And though warm it’s still been long.  So watch this spot.
